The fire service have brushed off concerns from a worried pensioner after they phoned 999 to day a man was trapped on a Lord Street roof.
A source at the emergency line revealed that an elderly woman called for the fire brigade this afternoon after she saw a man sat on top a dangerously unstable verandah on Lord Street.
However fire crews from nearby fire station didn’t have far to go to respond and found the man to be in a perfectly safe condition.
He had opened a window to his flat above a row of shops and was taking advantage of the hot weather to catch the breeze.
Crews quickly stood down and no further action was taken.
Residents are reminded to only use the 999 number incase if genuine emergency
