Partnership working to improve lives in Southport
Living Well Sefton is working in partnership with Southport Foodbank as a way of highlighting how Living Well can help people feel better.
One of Living Well Sefton’s partners – Brighter Living Partnership – is supporting the Lakeside Christian Centre distribution centre to discuss how their activities and services could benefit people.
The Living Well Mentors attached to Brighter Living are on hand to offer help to those accessing the foodbank. There are also a number of volunteers who will have completed Making Every Contact Count (MECC) training to maximise any conversation they have with those coming in through the foodbank doors.
“We are happy to work in partnership with Southport Foodbank and are here to support anyone in making small changes to improve their lifestyles. Mentors can work with people on a 1-to-1 basis ensuring they receive the correct support to achieve their goals,” explains Karen Nolan, Co-ordinator of Living Well Sefton.
The foodbank in Southport provides three days basic food supplies and is supported by The Trussell Trust. It operates out of six distribution centres including: Grace Baptist Church, Ainsdale Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Church, Formby. Demand is up by 50% on last year so the Foodbank is appealing for people to make donations including toiletries as well as non-perishable food items such as tinned fruit, rice pudding, pasta sauce and milk.
Living Well Sefton is also eager to hear your ideas on how to improve your neighbourhood and help people feel better in the process. Contact the team with your ideas via LWS@seftoncvs.org.uk or visit the Contact Us section on our website: www.livingwellsefton.org.uk
