The public will have the chance to get involved in improving their local park next month when events take place across Sefton as part of Park Volunteers Week (1 to 7 June).
With Sefton having so many parks and open spaces, there will be plenty of opportunities for people to take part in a wide range of activities locally. Local Friends groups and community organisations have organised activities to suit everyone during the week, including plant sales, painting, litter picking and planting.
Phil Esseen, Service Manager for Parks and Greenspaces at Sefton Council, said, “Last year our volunteers put in around 800 hours of work during the week with Friends of Groups and In Bloom Groups joining with Sefton Council and partner organisations. Their efforts made a real difference to the local environment and also gave those taking part the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy working outdoors in the fresh air.”
Any organisation or individual who would like to learn more about how to take part in Park Volunteer Week can get full details from Sefton Parks on 0151 934 2345.
All groups taking part will receive a free gift and will be invited to a celebration event later in the year.
