Out of town yobs in village vandal spree

Vandals have set about a light fingered crime spree in Birkdale Village smashing up signs and throwing stones through windows of bus stops.

A witness said: “A young group of teens who travel in from Liverpool on the Merseyrail line and escape ticket collectors in Birkdale have gone on a spree of criminal damage, ripping down signs and smashing glass on bus stops.”

Signs warning local residents in Alma Road of thieves working in the area which were put up by Merseyside Police have been ripped down across the village in a targeted attack against the force.
