On Monday 22nd June, Students and staff brought glitz and glamour to King George V’s New Creative Arts building, which hosted its annual Oscars in celebration of the work of both first and second year film and media students.
Kicking off with popcorn and a presentation of student’s work, the ceremony was filled with high quality pieces of work, musical performances from Jess Squared and award presentations.
Course Leader Pete Atherton said: “The night was created to celebrate the students achievements and shines a spotlight on their hard work.”
Media teacher Hannah Brookfield added: “KGV at the Oscars is an event that the students really enjoy. Prior to the event, students were involved in a cake bake sale to raise money for decorations and refreshments. I am very proud of the students who undertook some of the running, organising and decorating of the event as they did work really hard to put it all together.”
Previous winners of the KGV Oscars have gone on to work for Juice FM, the Southport Champion and many more organisations in the media. Winners have also gone on to become specialist teachers of Media or Film Studies.
