Ormskirk MotorFest 2016
This Sunday 28th of August brought the MotorFest back to Ormskirk town centre and coronation park with its free spectacular car show and with excess of 300 vehicles and motorbikes on show or parading in Aughton Street and Moor Street, there was definitely something on offer that had every petrol head going weak at the knees!
Now entering it’s fifth year, Ormskirk MotorFest is run and organised by Aintree Circuit Club in conjunction with West Lancashire Borough Council.
Also this year the cars and members of the Bentley Drivers Club who celebrate being 80 years young this year brought along a model of Bentley for every decade starting from the 1920s.
So NOT to let the side down it was a early start for
West Lancs MG Owners Club showing their support for this event by bringing 7 cars to show in the park and these consisted of 3 MGB-GT’s,1 MGTF,2 MGF’s and a Midget along with 15 members.
With also one of our cars displaying in Aughton street and joining in the prestige 1 mile parade around the town was Dave and his wife Sandy’s 1945 MG TC.
The weather for the day was forecast to be sunshine and showers and on arriving bright and early it really looked a dismal dark day with a heavy shower just waiting to happen, but to everyone’s surprise the rain not only held off but by 10.30 was starting to brighten up and by 11.30 had turned to full on sunshine and stayed that way for the rest of the day and by this time coronation park was just a sea of people all coming to look at the cars on show either in the park or in the town centre.
With the children entertained with all manner of activity’s including a climbing wall and of course the statutory ice-cream van and burgers and also Charlie Chaplin made a appearance which had us all in stitches as he perused the muddy puddle left from the night before. This event has it all for young and old and if you missed it this year you really do need to come and visit next year.
Above are Dave and Sandy on the mile parade around the town centre.
West Lancs MG Owners Club would like to give a very special THANK YOU to all the hard working car marshal’s (and behind the scenes organising staff) who make this FREE event (and without their tireless work would not be possible).
