Oil spill London/Lord Street, Southport

Cars are skidding like bambi on ice after an oil spill on London Street Street.

An arriva bus is thought to have leaked litres of oil while waiting at the traffic lights to turn into Lord Street. Coupled with the wet weather, cars have been skidding dangerously on the wet tarmac all morning and can’t grip the service.

One driver said: “it was a heart in my mouth moment and I couldn’t get a grip as I wheelspan at the lights.

“It’s quite scary to think and nobody has been along yet to dry it up. Others need to be aware”

Sefton Council’s rapid response team will soon be on the job cleaning up the spilt oil.
