A heavy goods vehicle has suffered a major leak of its oil tank causing the surface of Liverpool road in Birkdale near to the Spar superstore

Drivers have been urged to proceed with extreme caution and Merseyside Fire & Rescue have since been informed

The road remains fully open to traffic which could lead to a potential crash
