KGV College have received a seal of approval from Ofsted in their recent inspection with Good across all areas.
It’s good news all round for KGV this year with bumper enrolment numbers, great results and now a glowing report from Education Ofsted; the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills.
A team of five inspectors visited KGV between 20-22 September 2017, conducting a thorough inspection of all areas of the popular sixth form college. The Inspection team, comprising of Her Majesty’s Inspectors and Ofsted Inspectors, observed lessons, spoke to students and parents, met with management and analysed development plans and data relating to results and student progress. Their findings place King George V College amongst the top performing colleges in the country.
In the summary of key findings the Inspectors identified that “leaders and staff are focused on delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment” and that “pass rates are very high in both A-level subjects and vocational diplomas” with good outcomes for learners. The Inspectors also praised the positivity and enthusiasm that students have for King George V and their enjoyment for learning there. The Inspectors found that “students improve their confidence throughout their studies at KGV” and “appreciate the range of additional activities that are available to them.”
With a grading of Good for the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, the report stated that teachers had high expectations of students regardless of academic starting points and that “leaders and staff set high aspirations for their students to achieve”. The Inspectors also identified that students appreciate the support and feedback from staff and feel that it has “a positive impact on them and helps them to achieve high grades.”
Acting Principal Anne-Marie Francis said “We are immensely proud to have received Good in all areas during our recent Ofsted inspection, placing King George V College at the forefront of sixth form provision in the area. We are particularly pleased that the Inspectors identified that as a college we have taken swift action to improve the quality of students’ experience since the last inspection and that we offer “a consistently positive learning experience for students”. This is testament to our ambitious vision and determination to ensure that every KGV student has the opportunity to succeed.
“This September we saw a significant increase in the number of 16 year olds choosing to stay local and study at King George V College after their GCSEs. This, combined with this favourable report from Ofsted endorses that there has never been a better time to study at King George V College.”
