The owners of Oath Lounge on Lord Street are to surrender their alcohol license, OTS News understands.
Representatives of the licensee, Oath Capital Ltd, indicated to Sefton Council today of their intent to surrender the license.
The license was originally temporarily suspended when an investigation into an altecation at the premises revealed that CCTV had been deleted. Oath Lounge was required to keep all CCTV for 31 days as part of its license conditions.
A report to the council’s licensing committee stated that “serious concerns” around management arose after instances were staff failed to cooperate with police over matters of crime and disorder.
The statement added: “Upon arrival it was clear the bar was no longer open to the public, as the door to the premises were locked” with officers having “good reason to believe” that drinks were still being served in the locked venue.
Officers requested access to CCTV footage but found the venue had been locked behind them, preventing the request being made.
The bar has been closed since 31 July when a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, just hours after the alcohol license was suspended by Sefton Council.
The suspect remains on conditional bail while an investigation continues.
