Over the last week, following the use of a dispersal order in the town centre from Friday to Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend, Police Officers and PCSO’s continued conducting patrols in the town centre and sea-front areas, focusing on individuals responsible for anti-social behaviour and assaults/robberies in the area.
Last week, three 16 year old boys from Southport were arrested on suspicion of involvement in six assaults/robberies that took place outside of the times that the Dispersal Order was in place. Another teenaged boy is now wanted for Public Order offences in Kings Gardens that took place on Thursday 2nd September.
A number of stop searches have taken place. Another 16 year old boy was arrested for public order offences and assault of an emergency worker. Two more teenaged boys from Southport were taken home and their parents made aware of their involvement in these current issues.
Consequently, a Dispersal Order was put in place again this weekend.
On Sunday evening (5th Sept) two 14 year old boys from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of involvement in two robberies and three attempted robberies that took place in the daytime, where young people had bikes forcibly taken from them. At the time of writing these two youths remain in custody. Three bikes have been returned to the victims.
Merseyside Police said: “We will continue to deal robustly with these issues around the town centre. Work will resume in local schools again this week, with the start of the new school year.”
