Nominations are now being accepted for a major scheme that recognises Sefton residents who make a positive difference to life in their local communities.
Sefton 4 Good and the Mayor of Sefton’s Office are seeking entries for the latest round of their Citizens 4 Good initiative.
Citizens 4 Good is a recognition scheme that aims to highlight the good deeds, kindness and support that local people show to other members of their community.
Winners in the most recent round in the summer included:
* Kevin Dunne, founder of Stem Cell Scousers, who has raised over £50,000 for local and national blood cancer charities.
* Cath Barry, Joan Miller and Vera McGee from Girlguiding Sefton who have completed more than 70 years of volunteering between them.
* Margaret Walton, a member of Maghull Station Volunteers, who was recognised for her horticultural and art work at the station.
* Sharon Gregory-Wareing, the Community Champion of Asda Southport, who plays a key role in the Lord Street in Bloom project.
With 2019 having been designated Sefton’s Year of Friendship, Citizens 4 Good organisers are particularly keen to encourage people to nominate residents who have been outstanding friends and neighbours.
Rachael West, Volunteering and Citizenship Co-ordinator with Sefton CVS, commented: “Citizens 4 Good is almost three years old now and every celebration we’ve held has been a fantastic and enjoyable way to thank ordinary Sefton residents for their kind actions.
“Whatever good thing someone has done, whether it’s volunteering, helping a neighbour or any other small act of kindness, we want to hear about it!”
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a celebration event where they will be presented with a certificate by the Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns.
The deadline for this round of nominations is 5pm on Friday 4th October. The awards ceremony will be held at 6pm on Thursday 17th October at Bootle Town Hall.
