THE nation was brought together last Thursday as we all clapped in unison to thank NHS staff and carers who have been working tirelessly to battle the coronavirus crisis.
If you missed the iconic event, don’t despair as its all happening again tonight, here’s all the info you need so you can join the tribute too.
Clap for our Carers will start tonight, Thursday April 2, 2020, at 8pm.
This follows on from last Thursday when the tribute to NHS staff began.
Millions of people across the UK stood and clapped from their doorways in unison to honour staff and carers who have been working tirelessly throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Landmarks including the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arch will also light up blue throughout the tribute and the hashtag #LightItBlue was used for it on Twitter.
Why are people clapping for our NHS workers?
The NHS are leading the fight against coronavirus, risking their own health and spending time away from families to try and help people recover and fight off the disease.
The aim of the event is to make NHS staff and carers know that their efforts are appreciated by the country during these unprecedented times.
Similar displays of affection for hospital staff and carers have been seen across Europe in countries like Spain and Italy.
The Dutch yoga teacher-Annemarie Plas, who started the campaign in the UK, has said that the clapping should be done every week until the coronavirus crisis ends.
