Sefton residents are being reminded that all GP practices in the borough are fully linked up with the NHS App, giving them the ability to book and manage doctors’ appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view their GP medical records securely and access a range of other services.
Anyone registered with a Sefton practice can download the app from the Apple or Android stores and follow the simple on-screen instructions to set it up, link it to their GP surgery and enjoy its full functionality. Unlike previous online GP services, patients do not need to visit their GP practice to set up a login for the NHS App. Anyone can prove their identity by following the instructions on the app to create their NHS login. Dr Craig Gillespie, local GP and chair of NHS South Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “We are pleased that GPs and patients across Sefton have access to this fantastic tool. “Through the use of this app patients will have instant access to medical advice, whether that be the symptom checker feature or NHS 111 online. They will also be able to manage their prescriptions and any upcoming appointments. GP practices will also be able to use this technology to manage their workload better and provide better services to patients as a result.” Dr Rob Caudwell, local GP and chair of NHS Southport and Formby CCG, said: “We are continually exploring ways for our patients to benefit from cutting edge services. This app will empower people in Sefton to take control of their health and wellbeing and ensure they get the right help at the right time.” There are a number of different features available on the new NHS App. People in Sefton will be able to:
