Despite the recent snow now and frosty weather Spring is finally here and especially with an Early Easter this year.

It is traditionally the time when most people’s attention turns to their garden and to make preparations for the coming Summer.

Although work hasn’t stopped for The hidden garden, a local family run business established over 15 years in Formby, Spring is certainly the time when things get really busy.

Professionally trained  Garden Designer john and his brother Glyn have created many stunning garden in the Southport and Formby areas.

“Typically our gardens include flagging, decking, lawn both natural and using the ever increasingly artificial turf, we also do the more unusual gardens such as those designed to be wild-life friendly and sensory garden for schools with growing areas to teach pupils where food comes from and how to grow it” said John .

“There is a great deal of job satisfaction with our work” said John.

“creating something often from a blank canvas or putting an old and often neglected garden back together to create a stunning space that can be used and enjoyed by all the family”.

“As a small business we keep everything in-house” said John” I do the design and planting plans and Glyn and Andy undertaking the construction. I am busy most weekend and evenings now that the longer days are approaching” said John

“I will call out to all potential clients;  offering advice measuring up and providing some design ideas and quotes for free. It is really encouraging that  we receive so much of our work now from recommendations and word of mouth from client comments” John.

Top tips for this time of year said John is to get out there and start clearing and preparing the lawn for summer, tidying up borders, clearing paths and patios and maybe spend a bit of time not only enjoying some of the early flowering spring bulbs such as daffodils and snow drops and spring blossoming trees. But also taking time to reflect on the garden and what you want to do this year maybe even giving it a good spring clean or making plans for makeover or new look to your garden.
