Merseyrail’s new trains will be on display to the public at Southport Station next weekend.
Merseyrail and Merseytravel have invited the public to visit Southport station between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 23 October.
The new trains will be displayed at the train station, giving the public an opportunity to see them before their introduction later this year.
The current 507 and 508 class trains have been in service on the Merseyrail Network since the 1970’s.
Merseyrail have purchased 53 ‘777 class’ trains which are due to enter operation this year. The option exists to purchase an additional 60 units if the size of the local rail network is extended.
During the event, the train will be parked at a fully accessible platform.
Staff will be on hand to talk through the features of the new trains, designed and built by train manufacturer Stadler for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
The train is back by popular demand after hundreds of people took the chance to step on board and experience the train for themselves when it went on display at Birkenhead North station last month.
The Liverpool City Region will be the first to own the new trains, which are set to modernise rail services and enhance the customer experience.
The trains boast a wide range of customer focussed features including pioneering sliding step technology, which creates step free access for all, dedicated bike storage areas, more space for wheelchairs, prams and luggage plus on board wi-fi.
