Nevill Street closed after sink hole appears

Frustrated motorists are facing lengthy delays in Southport town centre after Nevill Street was closed off.

The street was shut after a reported sinkhole opened up causing the road to be deemed unsafe.

Council chiefs issued an emergency road closure yesterday forcing cars to have to go the long way round.

The emergency resurfacing works are taking place near to the junction with West Street.

The diversion route for all traffic will be via: Lord Street, Duke Street, Victoria Way, Esplanade, Promenade in a southbound direction.

In the opposite direction cars are being sent via Lord Street, Leicester Street and the Promenade in a northbound direction
