Two orthopaedic surgeons at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals have won national awards.
Mr Krushroo Suraliwala and Mr Imran Ullah were named Best Musculoskeletal Trauma Principal Investigator and Best Musculoskeletal Trauma Trainee Principal Investigator, respectively, in the National Institute for Health Research Network Awards.
They were presented with their awards at a ceremony at Newcastle.
The research was part of a multi-centre project with the potential to alter national clinical guidelines. Prof Matthew Costa, national specialty lead for trauma and emergency care, described the two surgeons’ work as “outstanding” in what was “a very strong field of applicants”.
Mr Suraliwala said Anna Morris, musculo-skeletal research practitioner, and her research team gave invaluable input to the Orthopaedic department in the study.
