A furious mum has complained to a supermarket chain after her cake baking daughter was refused service at a Birkdale convenience store.
Marina Townsend has written to OTS News to say her daughter Sammie was returned home in tears after being told she wasn’t allowed to buy ingredients for a cake she was baking for her grandmother.
Sammie had visited a local concivence store near to Birkdale village on Friday to purchase cake ingredients , including eggs, flour, sugar and butter.
However when she approached the till a cashier allegedly informed Sammie, 12, that she couldn’t buy flour or eggs because she may ‘use them as part of mischief night.’
Her mum Marina said “Bless her heart she just wanted to make a cake for her gran’s birthday.
“Despite her protests Sammie was sent home without half of the stuff she needed and I had to go back to get them myself. I was furious. What kind of horrible government state do we live in?
“I’ve written to their headquarters to complain.”
OTS has confirmed a number of supermarkets across Southport refused to sell eggs and flour to children over the previous weekend due to mischief night concerns.
