OTS understands several bids have already been made after the Southport Model Railway Village was put up for sale for an undisclosed sum.
Bolton-based sales broker Knightsbridge is accepting offers on the tourist attraction, which first opened in 1996 as the first model railway village in the UK.
It was designed to reflect local architec- ture from Merseyside and South West Lan- cashire. Located on a 1.5-acre freehold site which includes landscape features such as two ponds visited by wildlife, the village generated a ‘healthy’ turnover of £77,000 last financial year, despite a limited opening season and boasts a 4.5/5 rating on Tripadvisor.
The village is ranked second of all tourist attractions in Southport.
The listing states that it has a potential for growth through increased opening hours and seasonal events.
