Southport is to receive £4.5 million of funding to improve flood defences, which will protect more homes in the town from extreme weather.
The cash, which was announced in the Budget today, is alongside £23 million for Fleetwood and £700,000 for Manchester, and will protect over 12,500 properties.
People living and working across the North West will benefit from today’s Budget as the Conservatives deliver on the promises made to the British people, investing in infrastructure, the NHS and public services across the region.
The plans outlined by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, will be of massive benefit to Southport residents, who have suffered recently as a result of the increase in storm activity.
The Budget marks the start of record level of investment in the people’s priorities – infrastructure, the NHS, and public services – to ensure the promises made in the December general election are kept, and the potential of every part of the United Kingdom, including the North West, is unleashed.
