After thousands of people were turned away from Southport beach car park over Easter, rangers have confirmed the beach is still in an incredibly poor condition.
The beach car park near Southport Pier, which is still closed down, is normally open for the majority of the summer months.
However coastal rangers say they can’t risk letting cars access the beach anytime soon due to what has been described by walkers as ‘a valley of mud.’
Sefton Council have said repeated high tides have left the beach in an unusable condition.
However many have complained that the beach is covered in mud. One person tweeted to say it looked ‘completely filthy.’
