Damien Moore MP visits Southport Hospital to praise recent Winter performance figures
Damien Moore MP visited Southport Hospital last week to praise staff over their extraordinary performance this Winter.
Southport Hospital saw record attendance at the A&E Department with 20% additional patients seen in comparison to the previous year. Despite this, staff at the hospital transferred 89.3% within four hours of arriving at A&E, which was 10% increase in performance over the previous year.
In the meetings last week, Damien Moore MP met Chief Executive Silas Nicholls and the new Trust Chair Neil Masom to discuss a number of matters including, how Damien can continue to lobby the government for extra money for the hospital, after helping to secure £18.3 million previously.
Further discussions revolved around how to maintain the great levels of work currently taking place at the hospital, and how to enhance them even further. The future vision of the hospital was also discussed, including plans to improve the existing infrastructure, or whether it be more prudent and cost effective to build new hospital in the future.
Commenting, Damien Moore MP said:
‘I was delighted to welcome Neil Masom into his new position as Trust Chair. His wealth of knowledge and experience, in both the public and private sector, will help Southport Hospital outline a clear vision for the future.’
‘It was also a pleasure to congratulate Silas Nicholls and the staff at Southport Hospital for the vast improvements that have taken place, especially since Silas was appointed as Chief Executive. It is now imperative that the hospital continue to improve so that residents of Southport are in receipt of the best possible care.’
Commenting, Silas Nicholls, Chief Executive, said:
‘Staff have worked incredibly hard to keep our patients safe and cared for over what has been our busiest ever winter. Everyone has played their part from our skilled clinical teams to the dedicated housekeepers, caterers, porters and colleagues behind the scenes who make their jobs possible.’
