A number of Formby residents joined their MP Bill Esterson at the climate and environment protest, “The Time Is Now”.
They included Formby National Trust’s Kate Martin, who asked Mr Esterson for support with saving the natterjack toads.
Mr Esterson said he fully supported the work of the National Trust including in protecting the natterjack toads.
Bill Esterson said: “The Inter-governmental panel on climate change estimates the global financial benefits of decarbonising the economy at $26 trillion.
“In the Liverpool City Region, we have a golden opportunity to benefit from investing in solar, wind, tidal and nuclear power.
“Labour will ban fracking in government and that is why we voted against Conservative and Lib-Dem plans to introduce fracking.
“This is also in stark contrast to FRAG councillors in Formby who say they
could support fracking and who have been criticised by the Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency for the failure of their ‘Neighbourhood Plan’ to fit with the plans of either organisation.

“If we want to address the climate emergency we can also offer improvements in prosperity, re-investment in our NHS and revitalise our communities. This can give hope for the future.
“Labour is standing up for Formby and Ince Blundell, for the toads and for our planet too.”
