Southport’s MP has learnt nothing from his recent day working with Royal Mail after sending out promotional leaflets without paid postage.
An elderly woman was told by her postman she would need to travel miles into Southport town centre on the bus to pay £2 for a mystery parcel she had no idea she had ordered.
When she arrived and paid for her parcel, it turned out to be a promotional leaflet for the recent local elections promoting the Tory party.
Unfortunately for the red faced MP his local councillor colleagues lost the seat.
It’s understood at least three elderly residents were caught in the mistake and were forced to pay postage only to find that the parcels were wasted paper from their MP.
