The funeral of Semina Halliwell, who tragically lost her life last month aged just 12, takes place this afternoon at St Patrick’s Church in Marshside.
Semina’s mother Rachel said: “Everyone is invited to celebrate her short life.
“As a family we want to say to every single person, we have been so overwhelmed by your love and support at this unbearably sad time in our lives.
“As a mother it is unbearable to think of not seeing my beautiful daughter again until I go to heaven myself.
“The community of Southport has shown me so much love and support I will never forget. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Semina’s funeral takes place at 12:30 this afternoon (Friday). Speakers will be placed outside the hall in case of a large gathering, and mourners are asked to wear black.
Police have confirmed they are investigating allegations that Semina was raped, before sadly taking her own life.
Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we are investigating an allegation of rape in Southport in February this year.
“A report was received on 23 March that a 12-year-old girl had been raped at an address in Southport on 25 February.
“An investigation was launched and a juvenile has voluntarily attended a police station for interview.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
