Morrissey posters banned by Merseyrail

26th May 2019

Posters promoting Morrissey’s latest album have been removed from railway stations.

Adverts for the new album by the former Smiths singer have been ripped down on the Merseyrail network. Morrissey has previously articulated support for the greatly-disparaged Independent MEP candidate, Tommy Robinson.

Mr Robinson has nevertheless regularly confronted (face-to-face) noisy left-wing agitators and other highly-vocal critics along the way.

The man who contacted Merseyrail asked not to be named, according to the BBC. Morrissey has also supported the For Britain group.

The UK media are today happy to belittle and silence any dissenting political voices that rock the apple cart of political correctness. “With voice extended to breaking point, I call for the prosperity of free speech,” said Morrissey recently.

Aspects of Nanny State censorship aimed at ending free speech in the UK?

Morrissey is known to oppose Halal slaughter, which is used by followers of Islam. This involves slitting an animal’s throat and allowing it to bleed to death. the RSPCA has also criticised religious slaughter methods as being cruel.

The charity says: ‘We’re opposed to the slaughter of any animal without first ensuring it is rendered insensible to pain and distress. We, therefore, believe that all animals should be stunned prior to slaughter. The evidence clearly indicates that slaughter without pre-stunning can cause unnecessary suffering.’

The ex-Smiths frontman claims ‘halal slaughter requires certification that can only be given by supporters of Isis. He also risked a backlash by suggesting the Labour party
are comparable to the Nazis, calling for “evil” halal food practices to be banned’

Would Merseyrail tar the RSPCA with the same brush used against the singer?

Has Merseyrail judged and then banned Morrissey due to their questionable assessment that he’s linked to something they see as questionable or sinister, i.e his political beliefs?
Can we also expect the network to ban any posters issued by the RSPCA because they share the singers’ beliefs on Halal slaughter?

Perhaps network customers deserve answers, considering this is alleged to be a democratic country with a thing called freedom of opinion.
