More Technology & Less Interactions

The Ways Business Travel is Likely to Change

With the UK cautiously looking forward and the gradual relaxing of the lockdown, many businesses are starting to think about the future and how things might be different. One area which will certainly be different post-coronavirus is business travel, so those that regularly travel overseas will need to consider how this might be different and what steps they need to take.

It is currently hard to say, but this is how the pandemic may affect the future of business travel.

Less Travel & More Online Communication

Of course, it is highly likely that there will be a lot less business travel in the future as people and businesses will be deterred by what has transpired. A major reason that the spread was so fast and far-reaching was because people travel for business to all areas of the globe, so it is reasonable to expect that businesses might try to cut back on travel where possible. Additionally, remote working has proven in most industries that it is easy to maintain communication and to collaborate remotely so it might be better for people to work together online internationally. Additionally, you must also factor in that prices are likely to rise due to the loss of revenue so this will be another deterrent.

Sanitary Practices

Certainly in the short-term, airports and airlines will be implementing new sanitary practices in order to protect public health but also to instil confidence in travellers. This might include hand sanitation stations, longer wait times as planes are deep cleaned, disposable gloves and more.

Amended Services & New Rules

It is also likely that there will be amended services and new rules certainly in the short-term, such as passengers having the wear masks, no magazines in seat pockets and social distancing measures.

Following this, it is also likely that there will be more automation and technology with less face-to-face interactions. People will be encouraged to buy tickets to all aspects of their journey online or on a touchscreen, including those travelling by rail including trains to Peckham Rye and other domestic areas.

These are just a few of the changes that you are likely to see in relation to business travel once the coronavirus threat has passed and things start to return to normal. It is hard to say exactly what the situation will be, but as a business you will need to adapt and be prepared so it is helpful to have an idea of how things might be different.
