Miracle driver survived horrific crash on Duke Street Southport
A sports car was involved in a horrific collision at 7:30pm tonight (Monday 9th February 2015) and it is a miracle the driver survived, although he was trapped and had to be cut free by fire fighters.
Fire crews from Southport Community Fire Station worked on one side of the vehicle while members of the Technical Response Unit worked on the other.
They cut the roof off to free the trapped driver, who was placed into the care of paramedics.
The other vehicle involved sustained only minor damage, the driver and occupant of this car received minor injuries.
A neighbour from the corner house said: “It’s incredible how the driver still alive, he was very lucky. I was going into my house when I heard an almighty bang, I turned round to see the driver trapped in his seat”
“The seatbelt saved his life I think.”
The emergency services are still on scene.
