Minister visit helps give tory campaign boost

SOUTHPORT shopkeepers have been given the backing of Government Business Secretary Greg Clark who was in the town to support Conservative Candidate, Damien Moore.

Greg, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial, visited businesses and small firms along Lord Street, before popping into Bates Dairy, which brought back memories for the Minister.

He said: “Damien would be a fantastic champion for Southport Businesses, he has the right plan to see the retail sector thrive. It was really good to chat to the small business owners on Lord Street as well as Bates’ Dairy which took me back to my roots as my father was a milkman.

Thanking Greg for visiting Southport, Damien said: “It was wonderful to welcome Business Secretary, Greg Clark, to Southport to speak to the many number of small-medium sized businesses who were supportive of our plans for a strong local economy”.

“The choice at this election could not be more clear: a strong Conservative MP backed by a strong national government, delivering more jobs, more security and a thriving local economy, or a another candidate from a minority party that would be bullied by the local Sefton authority.”
