A popular milkshake and takeout dessert bar in Southport has closed down with owners claiming that they were forced to shut over ‘unforeseen circumstances’
It comes just months after staff in the shop were attacked.
Smooch on Houghton Street, opened in April 2018. However, ‘due to unforeseen circum- stances’ a spokesperson said the shop has now closed, adding “we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and sorry to see the shop go as we all enjoyed serving you lovely people.”
Merseyside Police released footage of a
Skelmersdale man running amok in the venue in April. Richard Shacklady burst in and jumped on the counter before attacking the shop owner’s elderly parents.
Some have blamed a lack of custom and long delays for food putting people off, laying the foundation for the closure
