Met Office predict snow for Southport this week

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow in Southport.

It is reported by the Met Office that snow showers and strong winds are expected to develop from Wednesday night lasting into Thursday 12th January.

This could lead to very poor travel conditions locally, with residents asked to “be aware” of the potential for disruption to transport due to lying and blowing snow.

This weather warning is in place from 6pm on Wednesday 11th to midday on Thursday 12th January.

The snow is said to be due to cold air coming from Arctic Canada, bringing with it snow showers and gusts in excess of 55mph.

Please take extra care if you are driving as conditions will become difficult in some areas, and there maybe traffic disruption so allow extra time for journeys.
