The UK’s Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice in Southport.
The warnings are in effect from Thursday morning until Friday evening.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing tonight, leading to icy conditions on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. The Met Office advises people to take extra care when travelling and to avoid any unnecessary journeys.
The yellow warning means “be aware” – there is a possibility of travel delays, road and rail closures, and power cuts. People are advised to plan ahead and check the latest weather forecasts before setting out on any journeys.
The Met Office also warns that there could be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. It advises people to take extra care when walking outside, and to wear appropriate footwear with good grip.
