Woodlands – Birds of Prey Open Day
Although we are now well into May Woodlands Animal Sanctuary would like to invite you to their first open day of this year. They had planned their first open day for Easter Saturday, but if you can remember that far back you may recall the abysmal weather we were still having at that time and so Woodlands took the difficult decision to cancel the event.
The team are therefore looking forwards to welcoming everyone to their site in Holmeswood, near Ormskirk on Sunday 20th May, from 11am to 3pm. Alongside all the resident sanctuary animals you will also be able to meet and greet a variety of different birds of prey, brought along for the day.
Events like this provide essential funding for the animal charity who are an independent, registered animal rescue, who rely solely upon monies raised from fundraising events to cover their running costs. Asking for only a nominal entrance fee of £1.50 for children and £3.00 for adults you are able to mooch around their picturesque site meeting their resident animals, such as Beanie and Dolly the cheeky mother and daughter donkeys, view Holly, Carrie and Simba the cats, in their comfortable chalet, relaxing with their roommates, before being able to see some of the wild native hedgehogs who are in the care of Woodlands only while they are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild.
With a variety of tasty, hot and cold food and drinks, you will have no excuse not to while away a few hours, being entertained by the antics of the animals, browsing the many stall available, watching, or indeed competing in the friendly but hotly contended dog show and all of this to help raisemoney for a local, worthwhile cause. And, not to forget the younger ones – there will be an array of children’s games available, which may well take you back to the enjoyable days out you spent with your family and friends when you were younger, a bouncy castle and the ever popular Teddy Tombola!
So why not pack up your troubles in an old kit bag for the day, and take yourself, your family and friends, armed only with a smile and some loose change, to visit Woodlands Animal Sanctuary to learn about their amazingly caring style and you can be sure your trip will be totally worthwhile.
