SOUTHPORT’S Tommy Fleetwood made a big move on day three of the Masters, but a closing bogey cost him the week’s lowest round.

The Race To Dubai champion missed the cut on his Augusta debut a year ago, but this time advanced to the weekend having embraced the challenge of playing alongside Tiger Woods over the first two days.

Free now to focus on his golf away from the circus which follows Woods around, Fleetwood came alive on Saturday under conditions which allowed his stunning long-game to sing.

Birdies at the second and ninth saw the Fleetwood turn in two-under, but it was a two at the par-three 12th which really ignited his challenge as four more birdies followed.

However, after a chance went begging at the 17th, Fleetwood produced his first error of the day, taking three putts at the last to turn what looked to be a flawless 65 into a frustrating 66.

When Fleetwood tapped in for bogey, he sat in a share of fourth alongside Jon Rahm, Henrik Stenson and Marc Leishman albeit with likely to slip down the leaderboard with conditions conducive to low-scoring on a rain-soaked golf course.
