Massive sinkhole opens up on busy road

A huge sinkhole opened up today in a busy road in Formby.

The huge sinkhole emerged after water began massing in a underground gap below the carriageway on Gores Lane in Formby today.

The hole was so big fire crews were called to immediately make the area safe.

A council spokesperson told OTS News “We are aware of a carriageway defect on Gores Lane, Formby. Our engineer and maintenance contractor are on site to investigate the exact cause of the problem and to take appropriate action to remedy the defect.

“Motorists are urged to approach the road with caution to keep our maintenance team safe whilst they are on site.”
