Hundreds of people have come to the defence of Southport market after one patron complained of there being too much ‘young person’s thumpy music’ at the venue.
A review of the new Southport Market, which has reportedly welcomed hundreds of thousands of foodies through its doors according to officials, was shared in apparent seriousness to a social media review page yesterday.
In the post by Southport woman Anna Hubbard, she lamented the ‘thumpy music’ which she says ruined her evening and urged the market to revisit their music policy.
However the review was met with a torrent of defence from many other market patrons who were quick to point out the venues’s function as a place of entertainment.
In her review Anna said “Went to try Southport Market for the first time early on Saturday evening.
“It was full of people of all ages.
However they were playing some sort of thumpy young persons’ music very loudly.
“As we had come to eat, drink and chat rather than dance we left.
“I had previously been to a similar establishment in Lisbon that didn’t feel the need to double as a club.
“I think perhaps they need to reconsider their music policy.”
While other reviews of similar establishments on the page have been taken seriously and with respect, hundreds of commenters took to the post to defend the Market, claiming that the reviewer may have been too quick to criticise the venue.
