Marble Place forced to close over glass roof safety fears

Marble Place has closed down today due to fears part of the glass roof could collapse.

For health and safety reasons OTS understands that Marble Place bosses have made the unusual move of shutting the shopping Arcade temporarily as no contractor can get out on site until tomorrow at the earliest.

Part of the walkway between Chapel Street and Tulketh Street was cordoned off earlier.

The news is a massive blow to traders who were hoping to capitalise on a busy day of Sunday trading while Southport basks in hot summer temperatures.

However a host of shops had to be shut for the day and it’s not known at what point Marble Place will be allowed to reopen
