Man wanted after allegedly sexually assaulting woman on Southport bound train
Detectives from British Transport Police are releasing CCTV images of a man they wish to speak with in connection to a sexual assault.
The incident happened whilst on board a Merseyrail service travelling between Sandhills station and Ainsdale station on Wednesday 9 August. At approximately 7.30pm, a woman who is aged in her twenties was on board the train when she was sexually assaulted by a man.
He approached her and asked for a kiss whilst whispering sexually inappropriate words to her. At Ainsdale station, then man then approached the woman again and toucher her inappropriately.
He left the train at Ainsdale station.
DC Scott McCabe, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and we are urgently looking to identify the man responsible. If you have any information on who the person is in the CCTV images, then I would urge you to get in touch. I believe he has vital information which could assist our enquiries.
“No one should ever be subjected to unwanted sexual contact such as this. I am grateful to the victim for reporting this incident to us, every report helps us identify a perpetrator and bring the before the courts.”
