A southport man has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after a tense rooftop standoff with police.
Officers were called to Derby Road, Southport shortly after 10.30pm last night to reports of a man in distress on a roof of a house.
It took negotiators and members of Merseyside Fire and Rescue over four hours in which they tried desperately to placate the Male.
He eventually was coaxed down after passing through a neighbouring skylight where he was then transferred into a waiting ambulance and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
It’s thought the man was a resident of the property and had been trying to escape police when the incident unfolded.
