UPDATED | Man detained by police was wielding two knives at Lord Street shoppers

Police detain a male on Lord Street, Southport.

Merseyside Police has charged a man following reports a man was carrying a knife in Southport yesterday (Sunday, 11 June 2017).

At about 1.50pm, officers were called to Lord Street close to its junction with Nevill Street to reports the man was carrying a knife.

There were no reports anyone was injured.

Officers attended and a short time later a man was detained.

Luke Jackson, 18, of no fixed abode, was charged with threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place. He has been released on bail to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court on 28 June 2017.

Two knives were recovered and seized by police.
