Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Southport this afternoon, Saturday 13 July. At 3.40pm, emergency services were called to Southport Promenade to reports that a man had been found injured near to the Royal Clifton Hotel. A man is his 40s was found with stab wounds and has been taken to hospital by ambulance for assessment of what are initially believed to be serious injuries. A 43-year-old man from Southport was detained nearby and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
