Man arrested following pursuit of van in Formby

Merseyside police have arrested a man following the pursuit of a vehicle in Formby this afternoon, Friday 28 December.

At around 2.40pm, a pursuit began of a VW Caddy van driving at speed in the Altcar Road area. The car was pursued and brought to a stop near to the Lighthouse public house in Liverpool Road.

Two police vehicles and two other cars sustained minor damage during the incident but nobody was injured.

A 21-year-old man from Formby was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and insurance, unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and drug driving.

He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
