A man has been charged with attempted murder by detectives investigating an incident in Waterloo on 9 November 2018 when officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a first floor flat at a house on Willoughby Road.
On arrival they found a 25-year-old man, who had suffered extensive burns and stab wounds to his head and body.
Stanley McBrien, 23 years, of Wembley Road, Crosby, has been arrested and subsequently charged with attempted murder, Section 18 assault and arson with intent to endanger life.
He was remanded in custody to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court this afternoon (Wednesday 15 May 2019).
Edward Crompton, 25, of Bowland Drive, Litherland; Thomas Barnes, 36, of Crosby Road South, Seaforth; and Ben Shields, 28, of Commercial Road, Liverpool, were previously charged with attempted murder and are currently on trial.
Kayleigh Brett , 26, from Oakdale Road, Waterloo has was charged with assisting an offender in connection with the case and has pleaded guilty.
