People living in Southport who are feeling isolated and want to get out of the house to make new friends are being encouraged to join in the weekly fun at Southport Community Centre when the popular Brighter Mondays course starts again in August.

The 16-week free course, organised by the Brighter Living Partnership, has already helped local people to make friends, try new hobbies and expand their horizons.

People like Jenny, who lives in Southport and passed on her baking skills to the others on the course. She said: “I am going to miss coming to Brighter Mondays because I enjoyed the craft and flower arranging classes. After completing this interesting course I feel far more relaxed. It has been great to meet new friends.”

Each week there are different activities and previous courses have included healthy eating, singing, day trips and enjoying a film afternoon. Course organiser, Sou Roach, said: “One of the good things about the course is that we tailor it to those attending because each group of people are different. As it so popular anyone wanting to come and join us in August need to book now so they don’t miss out.”

The next Brighter Mondays course starts at Southport Community Centre on August 12 from 1pm to 4pm – and it is free. Contact Sou on 01704 517813 to book on.
