EXCLUSIVE: Major incident declared as children spotted in death defying scaffold climb

Emergency services have been led on a major hunt after a group of children were spotted climbing scaffolding in Southport Town Centre.

A group of youths were spotted by Morrisons shoppers climbing dangerous scaffolding at the rear of the Mecca Bingo building in Southport town centre this evening.

Three units, including a Search & Rescue command unit from Merseyside Fire and Rescue as well as police rushed to the scene and began a desperate search to find the group of youngsters before nightfall.

It’s thought the youngsters have fled the scene since the incident.

Emergency services have also gained access to the adjacent Travelodge roof and are searching the area.

No arrests have yet been made.
