“Lord Streets Victorian bandstand has had its railings ripped off by a ‘Pot smoking’ youths”, said a local resident.

The resident also added: “Its becoming a serious problem, these youths have no respect for anyone or anything.

Dukes Ward Conservative councillor David Barton said:

“It is incredibly disappointing to hear about this mindless vandalism in our town centre.

Along with my local residents and Council Officers I have been working hard to make Southport an attractive place to live, work and visit.

These yobs have no place in our society and I can assure residents that it will not stop us with our pans for the town centre.

I will be speaking with the Police and relevant Council departments to see what can be done to bring the culprits to justice.”
