Local businesses on Lord Street have praised local MP Damien Moore following his visit on Friday to discuss new funding announced for the town as part of the Towns Fund.
Damien visited a number of local businesses, on both Lord Street and Wesley Street, to discuss the £25 million set aside by the government for Southport.
Donna Platts, owner of local business Lavish Home, said:
‘This money is going to be transformative to our town. If invested wisely, it has the potential to transform Southport’s prospects away from the slow decline we’ve seen in recent years.
‘I think it’s great that our local MP is working hard for the town, and that he has taken the time to talk to businesses on the ground and hear our views on how the money should be spent.’
On the visit, Damien said:
‘I was delighted to be able to go out and speak to local businesses about what this funding will mean to them and where they want to see it invested.
‘This is going to be an incredibly exiting chapter in Southport’s history.’
