David Morgan is easily one of the best stars that Southport has kept in the past few years. The former captain has made an instant impact with the team and looks to continue winning for his club all before he went on to move to Accrington Stanley and start anew.
Before he left Southport, Morgan was a huge leader that most of the club looked up to. His sheer confidence in playing the big games made him a reliable captain, and that is why he was a favourite among many teammates back then.
Morgan was a great star by his own right. He has been the squad’s pillar and a great symbol of success. Southport was seen as one of the favourites to bet on sportsbet with Bitcoins back then, but his success with the club was somehow a short-lived run as he only played from 2017 to 2021.
Looking back, the captain was seen as a great player who often motivated the squad when they needed it the most. There are many good things about Morgan, and his ability to speak out and help others thrive in the game is one of the biggest reasons why he had a huge impact on Southport’s boys.
Early Career
Morgan began his run in football when he joined Nottingham Forest at the age of 14 from the Northern Irish club Ards. The midfielder was scouted as one of the best prospects who played in the Milk Cup Youth Tournament during that time. Morgan went on to play with the Forest youth for four years and made a name for himself.
The midfielder’s noise in the game earned him a shot with Lincoln City in September 2012. He made a loan move that lasted for 28 days. He made his debut a day after he signed and helped the team claim a 3-2 win over Hyde.
Morgan entered that game as a substitute in the 85th minute, but he sure did make his presence felt as he guided the team’s offence all the way to the winning finish.
The midfielder then made his move to the Scottish Premier League club Dundee in January 2013. However, Morgan only made one appearance in that stint and came off as a sub for Nicky Riley in a 5-0 loss to Celtic. He moved to Conference Premier club Tamworth in October. The midfielder played a total of 16 games there and had one goal to his name.
Running With Southport and Beyond
His peak years were spent with Ilkeston, Nuneaton Town, AFC Fylde and then Harrogate Town. Morgan joined Southport FC in September 2017 and played most of his career games with the club. He has tallied a total of 108 games with 19 goals in his four years with the squad.
Stanley boss John Coleman had a lot of praise for his new player in town back when he joined in February.
‘He can be an attacking or defensive midfielder, he’s got a terrific shot on him and a good range of passing as well’, Coleman said. ‘He’s a man who has played a lot of football matches and he’s done consistently well for Southport, this is a chance for him in the Football League and these lads tend to grab it with both hands’.
Coleman believes that Morgan will make a huge impact with the squad, and that says a lot about their chances in the future. Maybe the midfielder will be the reason why many people will consider Stanley as an eventual favourite to bet on sportsbet with Bitcoins.
Still, Morgan proved that he is a star to remember. Southport gave him a huge role on the offensive end when he played 30 league games and scored a total of 11 goals in that span. He is clearly a gem on the pitch, and everyone who played with him knows that he has a lot of promise.
