Independent and small waste management companies and traders in Southport are being hit with a near 10% price rise to get rid of their rubbish.
Tip bosses Veolia have written to firms across the town to tell small firms they’ll have to pay nearly 10% more from April.
Veolia said they have assessed the impact of these factors on their service and operating costs.
They have revised the prices for all collection services and all prices will rise by 9.6%, with the new rates taking effect from 1st April 2023.
They said “ Some charges have been beyond our control, such as the ongoing consequences relating to the UK leaving the EU.
“This has affected driver availability that not only led to shortages, but also higher salaries. RPI this year has affected multiple costs across all aspects of our business, including the cost of vehicle parts & maintenance and utilities.”
